Foot and ankle pain can be caused by several different reasons. It either comes unexpectedly or gradually. Some of its causes will be written down, with the right information.
Fracture – Fracture is a bone that gets broken after we do not pay attention to it and several fractures can happen when our body sticks out after breaking.
Arthritis – Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints and there are numerous types of it, which can end up giving you pain in your feet and ankles.
Tendonitis – Tendonitis is the inflammation of the tendons, which connect our muscles to our bones. This disorder is caused either by injuries or because we overworked them.
Plantar Fasciitis – Plantar fascia is the thick tissue we have on the bottom of our foot and it connects the heel bone to the toes.
Bursitis – Bursitis is the inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs, which lessens the friction in our joints and it is caused from an injury we had or infection.
Osteoarthritis – This happens mostly in elderly people, because of their joints which are weaker than young people and it can cause ankle pain.
Foot and ankle pain is a sickness that brings people into physiotherapy many times, because they have several symptoms which help them detect that there is something wrong, such as: swelling, stiffness, pain, etc. Underneath, you will find some of the injuries that create this pain.
This injury is one of the most usual ones. Ligament injury is defined as the damage that is created on our ankle ligaments and leaves us with a sprained ankle, but that is not all. Our ankle has numerous ligaments which can be injured, that’s why we have to detect what type of injury it is.
Achilles tendinopathy is also a usual injury which happens due to the tiresome of the microtrauma. The tendon of Achille is the largest one in our body and it develops from the calf muscles which attach to the back of our heel.
This tendon is the most frequently ruptured tendon in our body and it is mostly caused by sports injuries. It causes fracture pain in the back of our ankle and it can also happen due to the unstable movements in sport activities.
This is not a very common injury. It happens, because of our wrong structure and position of the joints. Dislocation mostly occurs from accidents, sports injuries or mechanisms and can give you strong pain, swelling, bruising and lessen your motion.
This injury usually happens from the overload we create and the fact that we do not leave a certain time for our feet to heal and rest. It can cause us indefinite pain and it happens through our medical arch and into the top of our foot.
After you leave an appointment with a physiotherapist, he will, then, be able to start asking you questions about your ankle and foot history and take tests to diagnose your pain. You will also have to move your ankle, so he can check how in movies. In order to get back your balance and strength, you will have to start certain exercises that your Physiotherapist will provide you with and, at no point, neglect them, so you can heal as soon as possible.
